History Of The Al Serra Auto Plaza
The Al Serra Auto Plaza. Our History. Our Culture.
"Take care of the customer, take care of the associates, and the rest will take care of itself." That was the simple philosophy Al Serra put into practice when he opened his first Chevrolet store in Grand Blanc in 1973 in a small building that remains today. In 1976, Al Serra began constructing a new site for Al Serra Chevrolet. The store and the location would eventually become the forerunner to Al Serra Auto Plaza.
In 1982, Al Serra asked his son Joe, who had recently graduated from Albion College, if he would join the organization with the idea of Joe helping with growth and expansion. Joe accepted and began Team Management, known today as Serra Automotive. Two years later, in 1984, Joe took the helm of Al Serra Chevrolet. Shortly after, Al Serra began adding brands, starting with Honda of Grand Blanc in 1986.
In 2000, Joe Serra purchased the Serra Automotive network from his father. What followed for the Al Serra Auto Plaza in Grand Blanc has been unprecedented growth. The Auto Plaza has become Michigan's most prominent, one-stop-shop vehicle destination.
Over the years, this success has also created opportunities for the organization's most dynamic and dedicated individuals to take leadership roles within the Serra Automotive network.
